Reproduction of print titled 'The Flagellation', by Schöngauer. The copy of Schöngauer's engraving "The Flagellation" (B. 12) is from a series of ten plates engraved by Adrian Huybrechts, 1584, of which the only sets known are in Dresden and Milotech. The British Museum possesses six plates from the series (B. 10, 11, and 13 to 16). The engraver's name and the date are found on tyhe first plate in the series (B. 9). This plate of "The Flagellation" (B. 12) of which I know eight impressions, I mentioned in 1893 in the "Repertorium für Kunstwissenschaft", Vol. XVI.35. 21. It is a first state before the plate was reduced in size. This first state measures 162 x 114 mm.; in the second it is reduced to 159 x 110 mm. In the forthcoming fifth volume of my "Peintre Graveur" series (Schöngauer) it is described under No.22c
