DCA/18 is concerned with international visits made by senior members of the CoID and Design Council staff. The surviving files relate to trips made to Sierra Leone, Japan, France, USA, South Africa and Nairobi, as well as the more frequently mentioned "Europe", or "Overseas". Named staff members are Gordon Russell, Paul Reilly and Keith Grant. Files for foreign Study Tours appear here in DCA/18, rather than DCA/13 where they might have been anticipated, which covers courses.

Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Although Britain"s Design Council was widely imitated around the world, and part of its remit was to promote the stature of British goods to foreign buyers, the Council"s own budget was seldom generous enough to permit much in the way of foreign travel, as reflected in the number of surviving files.
Arrangement
The surviving files have been retained in their original numeric order as allocated by the Council's Registry. This means that records in a series do not necessarily have consecutive file numbers, and may not be located together.
Archivist's Note
Record created by Lesley Whitworth, with minor amendments by Sue Breakell, 10 August 2010.
