Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
George Baker Haynes was baptised at St. Mary's Church, Swansea on 23 March 1831. Born the son of William Woodward Haynes, brewer (1793) and Anne Collins. He had three brothers and one sister named William Collins (1826), Katherine Anne (1829), John Wells (1833) and Charles Mahon (1835). George Baker Haynes was clerk to the Swansea Guardians, the Urban Sanitary Authority and the District Highways Board and Superintendent Registrar.
Arrangement
The collection was originally catalogued at University College Library, Swansea, where an interpretation of the original order was made. This catalogue lists the items chronologically under the headings stated in Scope and content.

Acquisition Information
The records were originally held at The Royal Institution of South Wales, Swansea. From 1966 onwards the records were moved to the library in the University College, Swansea in consignments. They were transferred to West Glamorgan Archive Service in the Spring of 2004 as part of The Royal Institution of South Wales Collection.
