Scope and Content

This series principally consists of correspondence files compiled by Brian Cox, each relating to a specific topic or project, but none of which fall into any of the other major categories of files. The papers relate largely to Manchester or North-West based projects, including: Manchester Poetry Centre; Carcanet Press; a Poetry in Education Festival held in Manchester in 1985; and Brian Cox's role as Chair of North West Arts during the 1990s. The series contains letters from a number of poets and writers, including: Roy Fuller; Tony Harrison; Seamus Heaney; Ted Hughes; Liz Lochhead; and Peter Porter.

Arrangement

All the items in the series are original files compiled by Cox, except for the material listed in COX4/4 and COX4/6; these papers came from Cox's large miscellaneous files which are now divided up according to subject. Arrangement is based on Cox's original order, apart from COX4/4 and /6, which have been arranged chronologically by the archivist.
