This small series relates to Michael Parker's book, Seamus Heaney: The Making of the Poet(Macmillan, 1993). The book took six years to research and provides a detailed account of Heaney's early life and the experiences and influences that shaped his poetic development. At the time of the book's publication Michael Parker worked as Senior Lecturer in English at the Liverpool Institute of Higher Education. He presented a signed copy of the volume to Brian Cox, who also came into possession of a set of photographs taken by Parker during the course of his research.
