Scope and Content

Two original photographs of the 'Boer War', c.1900.
* One depicts President during the Boer occupation of Newcastle, [January 1900].
* The other shows a group of Natal Boer Commando (mostly Natal Rebels) standing in front of Newcastle's Town Hall.

Note

During the second Boer War, Boer Forces, under the command of General Viljoen, occupied the town of Newcastle and the General changed the town's name to Viljoen’s Dorp during the occupation.
