Autobiographical narrative of KL Hunter OBE, who served with the South African forces in German East Africa 1914-1918, and in the Kenyan Provincial Administration thereafter. He ended his career as Provincial Commissioner, Nyanza.

Administrative / Biographical History
Born in 1897 in British Guiana, Hunter served with South African forces under General Northey during the First World War, including the East Africa Campaign. After the war, Northey (now Govenor of Kenya), set Hunter up in the colonial administration. He was posted to Eldoret (in the Rift Valley region of Kenya) in 1919. In 1919/20 he became a District Officer at Kacheliba. He married his first wife in South Africa in 1921. He had further postings before becoming a District Commissioner for Nandi and then He retired to Karen in 1950 and, in 1971, left Kenya to return to South Africa. He died in 1985.
