Scope and Content

Deeds and documents including a deed of settlement, dated 22 Aug. 1870, relating to estates in the parishes of Llandinam (including capital messuages called Pen y Bryn and Maesmawr), Llanwnnog, Trefeglwys and Llanidloes, co. Mont., and Flint, Holywell and Northop, co. Flint (no. 3). The said estates were appointed to trustees by Captain Offley Malcolm Crewe Read of Llandinam Hall and his son Offley John Crewe Read of Trinity College, Cambridge (who attained the age of 21 on 3 Dec. 1869). Related deeds and documents concerning the life interest of the said Colonel Offley John Crewe Read of Portugal St, Mayfair, co. Middlesex, and Llandinam Hall, in the settled estates in co. Mont., include mortgages of rent charges and life interest, deeds of covenant, appointments of new trustees of the settlement with details of their costs, charges and expenses, together with deeds and documents concerning various policies of assurance, charges, trusts and incumbrances. Death certificate of Colonel Offley John Crewe Read, Los Angeles, USA, 10 Oct. 1902 (no. 142), and probate copy of the will of his wife Elizabeth Stuarta Crewe Read, 7 Oct. 1905 (no. 153).
