The Crewe-Read family traces its lineage from Thomas de Crewe of Cheshire and John Read of Roch Castle, Carmarthenshire; the family settled in Montgomeryshire in 1670. Captain Offley Malcolm Crewe Read was the owner of Llandinam Hall in 1870. He married Charlotte Lucy, the daughter of Thomas Marmaduke George. He was succeeded by his son, Offley John Crewe Read (1845-1902), who married Elizabeth Stuarta (d. 1905). Colonel Offley John Crewe Read died in Los Angeles, U.S.A., in 1902
