Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
John Tweedie was born and brought up in Currie, a Midlothian village on the Water of Leith which is now part of Edinburgh. He worked in Kinleith Paper Mill, run by Henry Bruce and Sons. He was particularly interested in researching the history of the paper making industry in Edinburgh as well as the history of Currie and the surrounding communities of Balerno, Juniper Green and Colinton. He contributed to several local history publications and was a founder member of Currie District Local History Society. In addition to creating a large archive of research material he collected a considerable number of photographs.
