File relating to the life of José Saramago

This series is a collection of the papers of Dr Pontiero relating more to Saramago the man rather than his books. Included is correspondence relating to the honorary degree bestowed upon him by the University of Manchester as well as copies of interviews given by José Saramago to Claude Gumhry-Emery, Dr Pontiero and others. Dr Pontiero's papers also include his lecture notes regarding Saramago and also several copies of a bibliography written by him. There are also handwritten notes and a proofread script with alterations by Dr Pontiero. Also included is José Saramago's Curriculum Vitae and details of lecture arrangements for him. There are also newspaper articles and journals relating to his works and to his life in general.

The papers have been arranged in two files reflecting the order in which they were received.
