Prints and drawings mostly relating to Flintshire, 1736-1995; including prints, 1802-1931, topographical prints and watercolours, 1756-1995, including work of Moses Griffiths, Frances Gray, Lady Sarah Williams; portraits, 1736-1888; photographs of paintings, [? 20th century]; postcards of paintings, [? 20th century]; and plans and architectural drawings, 1819-1912.

Administrative / Biographical History

Flintshire Record Office has collected original and copy prints, drawings and paintings relating to the county. These include works by Moses Griffith (1749-1819), who painted watercolours of numerous local scenes and buildings ; Frances Gray of Chester, who painted a series of watercolours depicting tollgates in the Flint, Holywell and Mostyn areas, Flintshire, in c. 1880; and Lady Sarah Williams (fl. 1844-1860), the wife of Sir John Hay Williams, of Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire.

Original topographical prints arranged alphabetically by place; others arranged into six series, A-F: Miscellaneous engravings and printed ephemera; Miscellaneous drawings and paintings; Personalities; Watercolours by Moses Griffith; Flintshire toll-gates; Copy prints, drawings and paintings.
