A collection of letters addressed to Henry Joseph Wilson (mostly dated 1864-1867, but covering the period of the 1850s to 1910) and Mary Anne Rawson (mostly 1830s). The letters to Wilson largely concern his campaigning regarding anti-slavery matters in the 1860s, and include a number of letters from regional associations, such as the Birmingham and Midland Freed Men's Aid Association. There are a number of letters concerning the American Civil War, which reflect Wilson's support for the northern states. The papers of 1910 concern British interests in Lagos. Many of the letters to Rawson concern an anti-slavery petition of 1838. There is no discernable arrangement to the letters.
