Scope and Content

Venkata Krishna Rao was a Kanarese Brahmin and the son of Srinvasa Rao, Translator to the Coimbatore Sessions Court. He had been attending Sunday Gospel meetings and was baptised by Handley Bird in 1889 with the aid of Robert Stanes, and it was reported that this event caused opposition and protests in the local community. The papers include correspondence, newspaper cuttings and statements by Handley Bird and Robert Stanes.
