Scope and Content

Includes typescript text with annotations. The numerous illustrations include ducking chairs, scold bridle's, stocks, whipping posts, thumb screws, gallows, wristie, gibbleting, gulotine, pillory, ducking stool and brank often showing examples from different parts of the country.

There is also Hogarth's portrait of Lord Loval (the last person to be beheaded in England in 1747), an illustration showing Titus Oates in stocks and one item with William Prynne in the pillory.
