Administrative / Biographical History

The archbishop’s liberty of Hexham and Hexhamshire comprised the three Northumberland parishes of Hexham with the chapelry of Whitley; Allendale with the chapelries of West Allen, St Peter’s Allenheads and Ninebanks; and St John Lee with the chapelries of St Oswald’s and St Mary Bingfield.
