Deeds and documents, the majority of which are the residuary papers of Mrs Enriqueta Augustina Rylands or papers relating to her estate. Mostly financial in nature, these documents include Inland Revenue legacy receipts, capital accounts of the estate, valuations of property owned by Mrs Rylands and details of its sale, minutes of the trustees of her estate, and various bills and receipts.
There are also some papers which were deposited by Mr Orford in 1971, relating to the purchase of land at Stretford by John Rylands, and to the various tenancies for houses there: these have been listed separately, as have the photographs and deeds concerning the building of the John Rylands Library.
