A Hugh Williams of Church Street, Abergele was found in the 1841 census, aged 55, and described as a slater. He had a wife, Ellen, children Thomas and Elizabeth, a horsekeeper and a currier. It is far from certain whether this is the same HW, the corn merchant, who received letters from his son-in-law John Hall, although Mary Hall, milliner, and baby Adela, were also found in the 1841 census living in Tai Newydd. It is also far from certain whether the HW who was the licensee of the Blue or White Lion in St George is the same person.
