Scope and Content

This series contains material acquired by Strachan over six decades in relation to his interest in and research into the work of modern graphic artists and painters. It includes a large number of exhibition catalogues, reflecting the energy with which Strachan pursued his interest - visiting numerous exhibitions in France and the UK; many of these catalogues relate to exhibitions of work by artists he befriended, and some of them are inscribed by the artists in question. The series also includes invitations to private views and exhibition openings, periodicals, cuttings and other printed ephemera. There is a small number of items which were added to the collection after Strachan's death, presumably by his son Geoffrey.

Arrangement

The material was organised into separate series by Geoffrey Strachan before coming to the Library, and his arrangement is retained here.
