Letters to Thomas Combe

Scope and Content

Letters from William Holman Hunt to his friend Thomas Combe (1796-1872) of the Clarendon Press, Oxford. The majority were written while Hunt was in England, but several were sent from the Middle East (March-December 1855, April 1870-June 1871, December 1876) and from Italy (1867 and 1869). Six items are fragments only, cut from letters. There are also two letters to Combe's wife, Martha Howell Bennett Combe (/29-30).
