Scope and Content

The Club Log Books recorded the daily activity of the Agecroft Rowing Club, but they are more than a mere dry account of rowing activities. The books are profusely illustrated with photographs, sketches, drawings and newspaper cuttings. They also give accounts of the Club's Regatta, recording the winners of races, and of other regattas attended by the Club as far afield as Germany and Norway. They describe new ideas in rowing styles and developments in techniques. They describe holidays taken by Club members, the lives of members outside the Club, marriages and deaths etc. Essentially they were written by Club members for the entertainment and information of other members with a strong sense of fun.
