The travel diaries of R.W. Blakeley, 1900-1938, were compiled by W.A.L. [W.A. Locan] in 1946. R.W. Blakeley was a prominent member of the Agecroft Rowing Club and a keen traveller, and these diaries are his accounts of holidays in Britain and Europe. They detail where he went and how he got there and give accounts of what he did. Included are his accounts of shows and exhibitions attended in turn-of-the-century London and Paris, a plane journey from London to Paris in 1925, mountaineering expeditions in the Swiss Alps (he climbed the Matterhorn at the age of 65), and his opinions on places and events encountered. Blakeley was also a keen amateur photographer and these diaries are profusely illustrated with his work.
Volume VII contains an index of the places visited, while volume VIII comprises maps.
The diaries are typewritten, with b/w photographs pasted in.
