Administrative / Biographical History

John Traill McKinlay first matriculated at the University in 1957 to study mechanical engineering. In his first year he studied Chemistry, Mathematics, and Natural Philosophy. In his second year he studied Applied Mechanics I, Electrical Engineering I, Heat Engines I, and Higher Mathematics. In his third year he took Applied Mechanics II, Electrical Engineering II, Engineering Design I, Engineering Economics, Engineering Production, Heat Engines II, and Higher Natural Philosophy. In his fourth year he studied Applied Mechanics III (Applied Hydromechanics), Engineering Design II Mechanical), and Heat Engines III. He graduated with a BSc in 1961.
