Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Glanaman Colliery in the Amman Valley was working in 1913 and employed twenty men. Glanaman Anthracite Collieries Ltd was established in 1929 and took control of the Colliery. In 1934, they employed twenty-seven men on the surface and two-hundred men underground producing 60,000 tons of coal. Following nationalisation in 1947, the colliery was placed in the National Coal Board South Western Division No. 1 (Swansea). In 1948, Glanaman Colliery closed.
