Administrative / Biographical History

Oxford Street National School, Swansea, Glamorgan, opened in about 1863, was originally a school for boys, girls and infants. The infants department closed in 1932 and the boys and girls departments became senior schools. It was closed temporarily in 1940, owing to the outbreak of war, and reopened in 1947 as a secondary modern school.
