Administrative / Biographical History

Afan Community Aid Council was an independant voluntary organisation established in 1981 to deal with social and moral consequences of unemployment. They were set up to promote any charitable purposes for the benefit of the community in the local government District of Afan, in particular the advancement of education, the protection of health and the relief of poverty, distress and sickness and to promote and organise cooperation in the achievement of the same and to bring together in Council representatives of the voluntary organisation and statutory authorities within the area. Also to support charities, raise funds, collect and disseminate information and provide exhibitions, meetings and lectures.
