Description of voyage from Gravesend to Halifax, Nova Scotia; the town of Halifax and surrounding country, with accounts of hunting expeditions and notes on Indian life and customs; leave spent in the United States (Boston, Harvard, New York, Saratoga, West Point, Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore; Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Niagara Falls) in company of Lord George Harvey; comments on habits and manners of the people, and on the personalities and episodes of the American War of Independence, with a detailed description of the battle of Braddock Field on visiting the battlefield
