Administrative / Biographical History

The Wales Women's European Network (WWEN) was established in 1990 with the aim of representing and promoting the interests of women living in member states of the European Union. It was a non party-political umbrella organisation of major women's groups in Wales, with links to the European Women's Lobby (EWL) in Brussels. They held annual conferences and lobbied the government for equal opportunities for women in Europe. The organisation ceased to function in 2005/2006, and its activities were subsumed by the National Assembly for Wales.
