Silver was born in 1915 and was still in practice in 2000. He qualified in 1938, gaining his LRCP from Guy's Hospital. He specialised in medical oncology and was a Hon. Consultant in chemotherapy at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan. He had previously held the positions of Consultant in Venereol. (Bolton Aarea) Manchester RHB and Chief Assistant in the VD Department of Guy's Hospital & King's College Hospital. He is/was also a member of the NW Regional Pain Society and NW Breast Cancer Study Group.
