Administrative / Biographical History

Robert Lock Bremner obtained his Master of Arts degree from the University of Glasgow in 1886 and then received a Bachelor of Law degree. He practiced law until his death in 1918. Bremner was also a historian and published several works, including: The Ancient Accounts Of The Battle Of Largs (1911) and The Norsemen In Alban (1923). He went on to do some social work with the Toynbee House, Charity Organisation Society and the Glasgow National Scottish Council for Women’s Trades. For the Council for Women’s Trades Bremner wrote The Case against Juvenile Street-Trading: with special references to Scotland (1914 ). Bremner also published the following works: The Modern Pilgrimage From Theology To Religion; Being Some Essays In That Direction (1904).
