Administrative / Biographical History

John Thomson Murray was born at Dennistoun, Glasgow on 13 February 1909. Following senior school at Bellahouston Academy he started work in 1924 with Mr N.R.H. Leiper LDS, RFPSG as a dental technician. While working with Mr Leiper he started studying to become a dentist and in 1934 qualified LDS, RFPSG, initially working with John S. Greig, in Paisley Road West, Glasgow. During 1934 he established a surgery at his father’s house at 67 Forfar Avenue, Cardonald. He married in September 1938 and moved to 1310 Paisley Road, buying the equipment and practice from Mr John S. Greig’s widow for £100. He moved to 21 Darvel Crescent, Ralston in 1944. He retired from dentistry in 1968 and died on the 26th July 2008.
