Correspondence

Scope and Content

19 typescript letters of correspondence concerning Geoffrey Bull's commendation to Borneo with his wife and children for a period of 1-2 years. The first letter is dated 4 November 1957 and the last 17 April 1962. The letters are mainly written by John R.C. Philips on behalf of the Allander Hall in Milngavie where Bull was a member. His correspondents include; A. Anderson Esq., of Woodcroft Hall in London, Mr. Tatford, the Editor of The Harvester in London, The Editors of Echoes of Service based in Bath, Mr. G.C.D. Howley of Canada, and the Treasurers of Echoes of Service, also based in Bath. The final letter, dated 1962, appears more personal in nature as it is addressed 'My dear Jack', and is likely from an acquaintance of J.R.C Philips. Bull is mentioned throughout the correspondence but none of the letters are actually written by him. It should also be noted that attached to the first letter is a photograph of Geoffrey Bull and George Patterson during their travels in China and Tibet.
