Account Book of William Jones of Brynmor, Penmaenmawr

Scope and Content

"An Account of the expence I Paid for Cath. Thomas & my self by going to London and our Expence in London from the 30th. of March to the 2nd. of May, 1827 and several expences in London and our Journey back, &c.".

This occupies pp.1-4, and throws a vivid light on the inconveniences of travelling to London in those days - the ordinary expense, the tips, and the time taken. The rest of this document is taken up with the care bestowed by W.J. on the affairs of Catherine Thomas, the yearly accounts presented until her death in November 1845 (see p.58), and the problems left to be solved after her death (for further references, see GWR/11, pp. 30A, 34 - on this latter page she is described as "of Caemawr.").
