Case Files

Scope and Content

This series is comprised of the case files created during the course of investigations carried out by the Department for the Crown authorities, individuals, and institutions. The bulk of the files relate to criminal investigations and include reports and documentation relating to post mortem examinations, examinations of productions sent to the department by the police, as well as toxicology and ballistic work.

Arrangement

The series is arranged into five sub-series: Subject files (c1931-1953), Criminal case files (1906-1969), Accidental death case files (1926-1942), Road traffic accident case files (1940-1943), and Blood testing case files (1928-1943).

Access Information

Certain files are restricted in accordance with data protection legislation. Consult file level finding aids for more information. Researchers should apply in writing to the University Archivist.
