Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Civil parish councils were established by the Local Government Act 1894, taking over responsibilities from parish vestry meetings. Community councils replaced parish councils under the local government reorganization in 1974. Dyffyrn Clydach Parish Council, until 1974 in the county of Glamorgan, was replaced by Dyffryn Clydach Community Council, in West Glamorgan. Following further reorganization in 1996, the community council is located in Neath Port Talbot.
