Administrative / Biographical History

Briton Ferry Old Age Pensioners (Men's) Branch of the National Federation of Old Age Pensioners Associations probably pre-dates the earliest minute book by a couple of years. It is known to have been in existence in 1944 and meeting in Mansel Street Hall, Briton Ferry, which the Branch bought in 1958. The building was opened in 1945. Elderly people gathered there daily to look at newspapers, play cards or dominoes and socialise. The Men's Branch held weekly meetings in the Hall as did the Ladies' section of the organisation.
