Administrative / Biographical History

Sir John Philippot: will dated 16 Nov 1381, proved in the Court of Husting, 25 Jul 1389 (ed. R. R. Sharpe, Calendar of wills proved and enrolled in the Court of Husting, London: Part 2 - 1358-1688 (London, 1890)). His wife, Margaret, was the daughter of Richard de Croydon whose will was also proved in the Court of Husting.

Jesoreshall: Stow's survey (ed. C. L. Kingsford, A survey of London, by John Stow - reprinted from the text of 1603 (London, 1908)) mentions Gisors Hall in the parish of St Mildred in Bread Street which belonged to John Gisors [marginal note: corruptly called Gerards Hall].

In Sir William Dugdale's (1605-1686) Monasticon Anglicanum (London, 1817-1830), Walter Grendon occurs as prior in 1408 and 1416.
