LAWN UPTON HOUSE RECORDS

Scope and Content

These records consist of property records for land in Littlemore where Lawn Upton House was built for Charles Crawley between 1846-1850. The property later became a home for delinquent girls, known as St Mary's Home and was run by the Clewer Sisters, now known as the community of St John the Baptist. Records of this organisation can be found at Berkshire Record Office. The building then became Lawn Upton School.

The records were transferred to Oxfordshire County Council as Acc 204 in by the Trustees of St Mary's Home, Littlemore upon the completion of the purchase of the property in February 1951 and originally catalogued as L. Recatalogued by Alison Smith and Katherine Kinrade in November 2020.
