Administrative / Biographical History

Pontardawe Petty Sessions Division was created in February 1868 from parts of Llangyfelach and Neath Hundreds. It consisted of the parishes of Llangiwg and Cilybebyll, and the hamlets of Rhyndwyclydach, Ynysymond and Llansamlet Higher, although the latter appears to have been ceded to Swansea by 1918.
