This collection consists of photographs of Josephine Butler, her family, portrait photographs of related campaigners, group portraits and photographs of buildings associated with Josephine Butler.
Please note: This index was compiled at the time the collection was made. The index originally consisted of 4 typed foolscap sheets that were fixed in the inside of the cover. Also the entries 'Alfred de Meuron, Group' and was noted in the original list as 'removed'.
In the 1980s the photographs were placed in albums. Because of preservation concerns and as part of the 2006 cataloguing project, the photographs were removed from these albums. The opportunity was taken to sort the photographs into a more useful order. The order of the 1980s albums is indicated in the AltRefNo field which provides the original album number and reference.
