Administrative / Biographical History

The National Theatre Club was started in 1947 by Alfred John Barnes. The Club was a not-for-profit venture, intended to provide a single base for theatre and musical entertainment, a restaurant and accommodation to its members. It was based in the Royalty Theatre, Dean Street, London, and was hoped that other similar clubs would start up round the country.
