Kate McNicol was a Youth Leader in the 1960s, working in the Maryhill Youth Club, Shakespeare Street, Glasgow. During the time she recorded her experiences, the Maryhill Club was the only youth establishment in the City of Glasgow (either voluntary or statutory). The premises were built originally in 1916 as a Girls' Club with a donation from a wealthy family.
