DEEDS FROM THE CITY OF OXFORD PART OF A SOLICITORS COLLECTION

Scope and Content

The provenance of this collection of deeds is not accurately known. The documents were collected from the City Council in January 1990 and were then assigned the accession number 3031. It is thought that the collection could be a local solicitors although there is no exact evidence to substantiate this.

THE DOCUMENTS

The collection consists of a series of title deeds of various properties in Oxfordshire, predominantly in the south of the county in such places as Chalgrove, Great Milton, Warborough, Benson, Shillingford. However, there are also deeds of properties in Eynsham and Newington and also in Chesham and Ickford in the county of Buckinghamshire. The deeds range in date from 1652-1897. In addition there is a section for pedigrees and a couple of probate items at the very end.
