The collection comprises of papers relating to sealing

Administrative / Biographical History

The papers comprise of material relating to sealing from the late nineteenth century to the mid twentieth century.

These copies were collected together in the period 1946-1956. They include all the relevant documents in British and Foreign State Papers up to volume 137 except volume 79 p1240, volume 81 p1072, volume 82 p202, volume 83 p306, volume 84 p453, volume 86 p184, 258 and 272, volume 89 p776. Those lacking from volumes 79-84 comprise correspondence between Great Britain and the United States relating to the Bering Sea.

This collection although comprehensive is by no means complete

Includes acts, laws, ordinances, proclamations, orders in council, treaties etc of the government of Great Britain, Norway, Chile, Russia, Falkland Island Dependencies, Finland and Denmark
