The supplement was a regional edition originally inserted into the newsletter of the national co-operative movement; it would have also been accompanied by local pages from the individual town's society.
The author of the "Actual Letter from the Wife of An Unemployed Miner" within the supplement was Hannah Thomas, the depositor's mother. It was originally sent to Myfanwy Jones, Hannah's sister.
