Administrative / Biographical History

The British Exploring Expedition, 1867 was a private expedition to west Greenland. Edward Whymper and Brown chose Jakobshavan as the base for their penetration of the interior. When it became clear that exploration inland would be impossible the expedition returned and collected botanical fossils.
