Administrative / Biographical History

Founded in 1906, the aims of the Welsh Engineers and Founders Association were to promote the interests of the engineering, foundry and allied trades in Wales and to provide mutual support in negotiations with the employees' unions. To promote settlement of disputes between members and their employees which it was not possible to solve at works level, the Association and the trades unions involved formed a Conciliation Board and Joint Standing Committee. The Association was wound up in 2001. Earlier records were lost during the Swansea blitz in 1941
