Interviews by Mal Pope for the BBC Wales production ‘Swansea: What makes a city?', 2011. During 2011 Mal Pope recorded a set of interviews for BBC Wales for a series broadcast on BBC Radio Wales. The series was entitled “Swansea – What Makes a City?" and featured interviews with various Swansea people. The series consisted of 6 programmes and aired between 8 and 31 May 2011. Whereas the other oral history recordings tend to focus on the interviewee’s memories of life in times past, these are a mixture of reminiscences, impressions of what Swansea is like as a place to live, and interviews with academics, businessmen and local politicians. The recordings were received as CDs from Dinah Jones, the series producer. They have been converted to MP3 format, and you can listen to them on the PCs in the Family History Centre.
