Administrative / Biographical History

Cwrt-y-ceidrim, also known as Plas Llanedi and Plas Mawr, was the seat of the Penry family who traced their descent from Bleddyn ap Maenarch. After six generations of the Penrys, the male line ended with Henry Penry. His sister Rachel married William Jones, whose grandson John lived at Cwrt-y-ceidrim until his death in 1842. The estate was offered for sale first in 1876, then again in 1921.
