Administrative / Biographical History

The aim of the Fund was to restore to health co-operative employees and their families to enable them to continue working by providing accommodation in approved convalescent homes and expenses to cover the cost of travel to such homes. The Western Co-operative Convalescent Fund was composed of four districts covering Gloucester and south Wales and many successful applicants to the Fund convalesced at the Rest, Porthcawl, south Wales. The Fund closed in 1982.
